Noblesville Optomap

What do you remember about getting your annual eye exam? Maybe you remember the phoropter, the large ‘glasses’ that your optometrist uses to numerically measure your vision, or the test that blows a puff of air in your eyes. There are always multiple tests being conducted during your exam to ensure that you leave the eye doctor able to see correctly, one of those tests is a Noblesville Optomap. Dr. Amy Walden and Associates conduct tests like these during routine eye exams and do what we can to give our patients the best care possible. If you are in need of an Optomap test, or a yearly eye exam, contact us to schedule your appointment today!

What is a Noblesville Optomap Test?

At the beginning of your eye exam, the nurse will take you to a couple of rooms before taking you to the examination room. In these rooms, they will test your near-sight vision, take photos of your retinas, and a few other things.

The Noblesville Optomap test is done with an instrument that does a big, red flash. It may not seem like much, but what this instrument measures is the health of your eyes. This test will give the optometrist more in-depth information and imaging than a regular pupil dilation test.

Optomap tests, can determine early eye diseases such as ocular and systemic diseases, detect retinal lesions, spot early signs of eye damage caused by diabetes, and diagnose vision problems that occur at night.

Unfortunately, this test may not be covered by insurance, so make sure you talk to your health insurance provider before coming to your eye exam to determine if this test is covered. Even if it isn’t, it is a good idea to do this test to keep up to date on your eyes’ health.

Aside from our Noblesville Optomap, we also have other services we provide. At Dr. Amy Walden and Associates, we do lens fittings (glasses and contacts), comprehensive eye exams, Clarifye, and kids’ eye exams. Our regular comprehensive eye exams use the most advanced technology as well as work to provide our patients with accuracy and comfort. Clarifye provides your optometrist with precise digital measurements and can reveal the difference in your day/ night vision. This test is conducted in about 60 seconds and can detect early signs of various eye diseases.

As for our kids’ eye exams, most of a child’s learning process is through vision. Everything a child sees is new to them. When they are in school, their education relies on their 5 senses, smell, touch, taste, sight, and hearing, and seeing is a big part of it. In order to make sure that your child is successful during the early stages of development, or you suspect that they might have issues seeing properly, then you should take them to Dr. Amy Walden and Associates to check out their vision.
