Before Your Contact Lens Fitting Appointment

Before we fit you with contact lenses, we perform a comprehensive eye exam. The beauty of seeing one of our Noblesville/Indianapolis Eye Doctors is we have the most advanced digital eye equipment at our locations. CLARIFYE is the newest advance in the way that eye exams are performed. They are not only faster, but more precise. With CLARIFYE, your eye doctor has all of the results in one device. This equipment can even check your day and night vision during your exam. Your overall vision will be checked and many health conditions can also be detected as well, such as diabetes, high blood pressure and tumors.

During this eye exam, our eye doctors want to make sure your eyes are in good health and there aren’t any issues that contact lenses could aggravate. An annual eye exam is recommended for all our patients, especially those with contact lenses. Learn more about our comprehensive eye exams.

What to expect during a contact lens fitting

Background

During your fitting appointment, your optometrist will collect medical history and discuss any eye problems that may affect the effectiveness of contact lenses.

Measurements

Everyone has a different shape of their eye; what fits on person’s eyes may not fit another person’s. To determine the best fit, we measure the curvature of the eye, curvature of the cornea, size of the pupil, measure the diameter of the iris. We may also evaluate your body’s ability to produce tears.

These test help your Noblesville eye doctors determine the best type of lens to match your prescription.
